The union of Mr. and Mrs. Wood hasbeen blessed with si.\ children, as follows:Alonzo, born July 6, 1866, died in infancy;Mary and Martha (twinsj, born August10, 1871, and died in infancy; Charles,born July 7, 1875; Lizzie, born Decem-ber 27, 1872, died March 6, 1876; andNelson J., born March 18, 1879. Mr. Wood manifested his loyalty tothe government during the Civil war byjoining Company A, Fourteenth O. V. I.,September 5, 1861. He served for threeyears, participating with his regiment innumerous skirmishes, and some of themost important battles of the war. Atthe battle of Chickamauga, he was takenprisoner by the Confederates, and forforty-three days was held as a captive inthe Smith
