Abert's Squirrel (Sciurus aberti) tassel-eared squirrel


An all-black variety of Abert's Squirrel (Sciurus aberti) tassel-eared squirrel, dines near a Ponderosa Pine tree. These strange-looking, rabbit-eared tree squirrels live exclusively in (and feed upon) Ponderosa Pines in a very small range in the mountainous parts of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Mexico. This one was seen near Gennessee, Colorado.
