The holy site is the traditional burial site of the biblical Hebrew prophet Samuel, atop a steep hill at an elevation of around 900 meters above sea level. . The mountain is located about 6 KM northwest from Jerusalem. Since the Middle Ages, Mount Samuel has been acknowledged as the burial place of Samuel Prophet and contains the tomb itself which is located in an underground chamber where the small synagogue is located.
