Inle Lake is a fascinating part of Myanmar where life is lived on the water. Food is grown on floating gardens, fishermen take fish from the lake to eat using a unique leg rowing technique, houses sit on stilts over the water , children paddle to schools on the lake, and there is a thriving craft culture and Buddhist religious culture (seen here). As well, ethnic peoples from the hills come to markets on the lake.
