17/05/11 FILE PHOTO. SainsburyÕs has launched a Carbon Academy and said it will train 20,000 people in environmental awareness and skills by 2020. The retailer, which claims to be the 'greenest grocer', said the SainsburyÕs Carbon Academy would 'revolutionise' the way the store managed its carbon footprint. The supermarket aims to cut its carbon emissions by 25 per cent on 2005 levels by 2012 and is already providing specialist training to around 180 engineers in low carbon technology CO2 refrigeration.
