A Marine with the Maritime Raid Force (MRF), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU) jumps from a CH-53E Super Stallion with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced), 11th MEU, during free-fall parachute training at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Dec. 18, 2018. The MRF's role in a MEU is to carry out raids against maritime objectives such as oil and gas platforms, ships and targets ashore. The MRF can use parachutes to reach their objective when landing by aircraft is not feasible or possible.
