A tourist watches the sun go down over yardangs in the Lut Desert in Shahad, Iran. Known as kaluts in Iran, yardangs are geological formations created by the dual action of wind and sand on rock. Lut is the world's 25th largest desert and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
