Skin sheet culture being grown in a petri dish in a laboratory. The skin sheet is the translucent area seen in the growth medium in the petri dish. Sheets of skin are grown from skin cells taken from the patient (autografts) or an external source (allografts). These cultured skin sheets can then be used to treat conditions such as severe burns.
