1921 printed image of a Blue Coat Boy in school dress from Christ's Hospital, London. The boys uniforms have not altered in design since Tudor times and consists of a long blue (symbol of charity) belted coat, matching knee breeches, yellow socks and white neck bands. Girls are also admitted and wear similar uniforms but with a plaited skirt. Uniforms are provided free, a tradition from the earliest times when the school educated ‘fatherless and poor children’ and the uniforms were provided from donations. The school is now fee paying.
