Geranium flower. Macrophotograph of a Geranium \Ann Folkard\" flower (Geranium sp.) showing its reproductive parts. This is a hybrid geranium which is a popular garden plant. The red anthers, supported by black filaments, form the male parts of the flower (the stamens). At the centre of the ring of stamens is the female carpel, comprising an ovary (not seen) and also the black style tipped by the stigma. In this hybrid geranium, the male parts of the flower are sterile and produce no pollen. In most flowers, the anthers bear pollen (male sex cells) which is carried to the stigma, from where it travels to the female ova. Magnification: x2 at 35mm size."
