Goonhilly 1 satellite dish. This satellite dish, also known as Arthur, was the first open parabolic dish. It was built in 1962 to link with the Telstar 1 communications satellite. Goonhilly in Cornwall, UK, was once the largest satellite Earth station in the world. Arthur is now a Grade 2 Listed structure. The metre dish weighs 1118 tonnes.
