Doug Verissimo, commanding officer of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), observes the Japanese Ship (JS) Hyuga (DDH 181), front, and the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) during a photo exercise. Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) and Navy forces routinely train together to improve interoperability and readiness to provide stability and security for the Indo-Asia Pacific region.
