The Hello! grirls are seated in full view ofpassers through the pavilion, so that all the mechanism of connect-ing two pardes who wish to converse may be clearly seen. Visitorshave failed to observe in the mild-mannered young ladies any ofthose mulish propensities with which the telephone user ordinarilyassociates them. Fully equipped diving apparatus is a part of theexhibit with telephone attachments; also marine and army tele-phones. There are models of more than 500 patents shown. The next most prominent exhibit in the building is that of theWestern Electric Company, of Chicago, immediately to the east ofthe main south entrance. This company has three pavilions, onean Egyptian temple paneled on the outside most uniquely withEgyptian figures and groups associated with electricity. Forinstance, there is a group of Egyptian maidens, of the time ofRameses the Second, operating a telephone board, and anothergroup is of men of the same period laying telegraph lines. The
