In a case of this kind I have seen pain and tendernesscompletely relieved at the first sitting and a dozen treatmentsrestore to the patient the power to perform her household TREATMENT OF UTERINE DISPLACEMENTS. 353 duties with comfort without any surgical operation much cannot be said of the comfort-restoring capabilitiesof electrical methods in these cases, for although an operationmay be apparently necessary yet the patient may either objectto it or be unable to have it performed. Methods of treatment are made sufificiently plain in dis-cussing other displacements and need not be repeated begin with bipolar faradization. Even if the patientneeds and desires to have a perineum sutured it is better toprecede the operation and put the tissues in the best possiblestate by a course of local treatment with NEGATIVE. Procidentia, two inches, cystocele, rectocele, varicose vulva, bilateral laceration ofcervix, laceration of perineum nearly to sphincter ani, uterinecavity 4^ inches. Duration of lesions twelve years. I at once began vaginal bipolar faradic stimulation withshort, coarse secondary coil. This had a marked elTect, con-tracting the muscles so that the electrode could be felt drawnfirmly upward. After the first application the uterus re-mained up for two hours. Repeated ten minute applicationsof the same nature every second day for the first month,at the end of which time the uterus did not come down atall. Mrs. now felt very much relieved and more able to do her work, but complained of a dragging, tired feeling when sheremained long standing. Tlie faradic current had strengtJicncdthe uterin
