The proportion of the purple andthe black, to the yellow and to the other two colours, is by no meansthe one generally required; and it might be altered considerably ina different design. The arrangement is nevertheless quite har-monious ; and it may serve as an instance of the great range allowedto the proportions of different colours, mentioned in pp. 147, (See Blue, C 5, p. 134.).
