Itis similar to the slide valve used in the triple valves of this com-panys make. It is of very rugged construction and is not liableto easy derangement. RECENT RAILWAY INSTALLATIONS MOTOR-DRIVEN TRACK DRILLING MACHINE The Ludlow Supply Company, of Cleveland, Ohio, has recentlyadded manufacturing to its supply business, and is this year de-veloping many devices for use in the construction of electric rail-. MOTOR-DR1VEN TRACK-DRILLING MACHINE ways. One that it has made a specialty of is the Cleveland track-drilling machine, operated by hand or electric power. The accompanying cut shows one of its machines operated by ai-hp electric motor. It also shows the emery wheelattachment which the company is putting on nearlyevery machine this year. With this machine it is pos-sible to drill a 2%-in. hole through a 70-lb. A. S. rail in from 30 to 35 seconds. The hand-powermachine for the same purpose was illustrated in theStreet Railway Journal for Aug. 15. Among the many street railways using these ma-chines are the following: Union Traction Company, Anderson, Ind.; IllinoisValley Traction Company, Ottawa, 111.; Interbor-otlgh Rapid Transit Company, New York; NewYork&LonglslandTraction Company, Hempstead,L.
