MURPHY, attor-ney at law and former Super-A-isor, was l)orn in Santa ClaraConnty, California, June 2S, 1870,the son of Daniel and Mary received his early education inthe schools of Santa Clara County,later attending St. Marys College,graduating with the degree of A. July, 1888. Deciding to follow thelegal profession, he went East toGeorgetown University, Washing-ton, D. C. Obtaining a position inthe office of the United States At-torney General, he supported him-self and at the same time obtainedtherein a practical knowledge ofthe law while pursuing his studiesat the Uni^ersity, from which hegraduated with the degree of LL. AI. in 1891. He returned at once to California, was admitted to practice in theState and Federal courts in June, 1895, at San Francisco, and enteredimmediately upon the practice of his profession in this city, where hehas continued ever since, his offices at present being in the MutualBank building, where
