The objects of the Association are: To cherish the memoriesand associations of the war waged in defense of the unity and in-divisibility of the Republic; to strengthen the ties of fraternalfellowship and sympathy, formed from the companionship inarms; to advance the best interests of the soldiers and sailors ofthe United States ; to extend all possil)lo relief to their widowsand children; to foster the cultivation of military and naval. The Loyal Legion has grown and prospered, and has nowmore than eleven thousand members on its rolls, with active Com-manderies in nineteen States and the District of Columbia.
