Saint Pierre Sur Dives, Normandy, France. Typical building

Saint Pierre Sur Dives, Normandy, France. Typical building. On Monday mornings this small country town bursts into life as the market commences in the large Market Halls, or Halles. Inside this barn like building is a beamed roof. The produce that is sold in the market includes chickens, turkeys and ducks. The hall was originally built in the 11th century, and was rebuilt after the Second World War. 290,000 wooden dowels, and no nails, were used in the construction.
