The Tippler Closet Toilet in the Black Country Living Museum. In the 19th century this was an automatic counterweighted slop water toilet providing an ingenious way to use waste water from the kitchen sink to flush the lavatory. This was usually outside, at the bottom of the garden some 8 feet away from the house. Some were used up to the 1950'sand 60's when they were replaced by toilets with cisterns
