Welsh Rugby union played Gareth Thomas(b25/7/1974) has 100 international caps and is notable for being one of the first openly Gay athletes. Known as Alfie Gareth retired from Ruby October 2011. He played ruby union for Cardiff Blues and Wales and rugby league for the Crusaders. He made history when be became the first Welshman to win 100 caps for playing international rugby for Wales. After his divorce in 2009 Gareth announced he was Gay making him the first openly gay rugby union player. Mickey Rourke has been reported to wanting to play Gareth in a film about his life which is due to start filming 2012. He appeared on Channel 5 Celebrity big brother Jan 2012
