BETTER FRUIT Page 23 According to a recent report of the United States Bureau of Crop Esti- mates, the commercial acreage of straw- berries in the United States for 1951 will show a considerable increase over that of the preceding year. It is esti- mated that the acreage in strawberries this year will be 57,219 acres as com- pared to 18,619 acres in 1920, giving ,in increase of 8,600 acres. Orchard cultivation should start with a rush now. Clear, sunny days causes the ground to dry rapidly.
