Kershaw was of Longstreets corps and was thenunder orders to return to Lees army at Petersburg. Noother event of greater importance than a reconnoissance oc-curred until the 19th. Sheridans army was then composed of the Sixth Corpsunder Wright—three divisions, commanded, respectively, byGenerals David A. Russell, George W.
