Sea weed flys (Coelopa frigida) that feed on sea weed washed ashore on the strandline, that are migrating away from the weed as the high tide washes over the pile. They are a great food sourc for many shore birds, especially waders. They are incredibly numerous and are said to number over 1 billion per Kilometre of coast.
