As compared with last week, trade has dropped off considerably and fu- neral work is the chief outlet for flow- ers. Carnations are holding out well, though some varieties are showing the ravages of the season. Boses are still plentiful but of a depreciated quality. Sweet peas show a slight improvement in quality. Asters will soon arrive; in fact, a few extra early asters are already seen and find a ready sale. Among the growers there is great ac- tivity, but only in putting the houses in shape, not in building. Some re- modeling is being done. Various Notes. Mr. Davis, superintendent of the Eiverside cemetery, is building an iron- frame house, 30x90, for the growing of Wlt"flrrwers and bedding plants. Thomas <^uinn, one of Mr. Davis' assistants, slipped while pruning a tree recently, falling a distance of twenty feet. He is confined to his home with three broken ribs. Mrs. Hoffman, wife of William Hoff- man, St., is enjoying a vacation in the mountains. The work of repairing benches and glass is going on at J. J. Kelley's, of Valley Falls. Mr, Meade, of the Fottler, Fiske, Rawson Co., Boston, Mass., seedsmen, called on the trade last week. Tree Warden E. O, Ronian, of Woon- socket, has secured the aid of the fire department in his war against the brown-tail moth. Mr. Demers, of Jenks park. Central Falls, reports to the police the theft of many excellent S. A. Nutt geraniums from the circular bed in the front of the park. Charles W.
