Light micrograph of a section through the developing tooth of a foetal cat. At the centre of the tooth is pulp (light pink, lower right).The blue arc is the dentin of the tooth, which is secreted by odontoblasts (line of pink cells to the right of dentin). The dark red line is the enamel covering the crown of the tooth. It is secreted by ameloblast cells (line of pink cells to left of enamel). Magnification: x400 when printed at 15cm wide.
