A Stained Glass Window Depicting Saint John, St Gregory's Church, Offchurch, Warwickshire: Window is by William Wailes


This window is by William Wailes (1808-1881) whose workshops in Newcastle Upon Tyne was one of the most prolific producers of stained glass during the Gothic revival of the 19th century. Although Wailes employed a number of designers the glass is often distinctive by the use of paler more brightly coloured glass than his contemporaries which often mimics the styles used in Germany of Limoges
