The largesttrans-Atlantic steamship companies are, it is stated, already making plans to send their largestvessels through the canal to San Francisco. This will give us rapid and cheap transportation for allof our products to the Atlantic seaboard and European countries. There will, undoubtedly, be agreat saving in freight rates as a result of ocean competition through the canal.
