Bhutan: His Majesty Jigme Wangchuck (1905 - 30 March 1952), 2nd Druk Gyalpo or 'Dragon King' (r. 1926-1952), c. 1926. Jigme Wangchuk was the 2nd Druk Gyalpo of Bhutan, ascending to the throne in 1926 after the death of his father, Ugyen Wangchuck. Pursing legal and infrastructural reforms during his reign, he continued Bhutan's policy of almost complete isolation from the outside world, with the only foreign ties being with the British Raj in India. The Druk Gyalpo ('Dragon King') is the head of state of Bhutan. He is also known in English as the King of Bhutan.
