The empty Toddbrook reservoir at Whaley Bridge on a winters day. The reservoir is being kept empty following a partial failure of the dam in August.

Cw 6979 Drained Toddbrook Reservoir Over the night of 31st of July 2019 there was heavy rainfall across Derbyshire and the Peak district. A result of this was the Toddbrook reservoir above part of the Town of Whaley Bridge became very full and the excess water flowed over s spill way on the dam wall. For some as yet un-know reason part of the concrete covering of the spill way broke away and exposed the clay and soil dam beneath it. By the 17th of December the majority of the water had been pumped out of the reservoir and the flows of water into it diverted around the reservoir. Here the reservoir sparkles in the winter sun as a fish rescue takes place watched over by a camera crew and presenter from the local BBC news programme, BBC Look North West Tonight.
