Canoeing is a favorite sport on Barton Creek, a tributary that feeds the Colorado River as it flows through Texas Hill Country into Lady Bird Lake (formerly Town Lake), Austin, Texas. Barton Creek hosts water recreation including kayaking, tubing, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding (stand up paddle surfing), dragon boats and swimming. It is the habitat for many indigenous species of flora and fauna, including at least 7 endangered species of plants.
