To the west of the school lies the <'und)erlan<l \'alley which is regarded as one of the garden spots of IVnnsylvania, and nearby are some of the most scien- tifically managed apple and peach orchards of the State. The forest location (»f the scliool stnnds in strong ccntrast with those in larger cities and college towns. Such a situation has advan- tages which make it not only attractive but also convenient for the study and practice of forestry in the forest throughout the year. It enables the student to study forestry rather than about forestry. BUILDINGS. Thirteen buildings comprise the Academy grojip. Wiestiing Hall the oldest of the buildings, is a large three story striuture an<l was foruH'rly tlu' residence of (Nd. George B. Wiestiing, a mendier of the first Forestry Commission of Pennsylvania. This building has recent- ly been remmleled and is now used as an administration building. It also contains the dining room, kitchen, and quarters for the matron 'ind servants. The Main Building was erected in 1008-09. It is the largest build ing of the grimp and is constructed of a veiw attractive native quart- zite. On the second floor of this building are comfortable living rooms for all the students. The first floor is devoted to class rooms, labora tories, and the library.
