Rash in mastocytosis. Close-up of a rash on the upper back of a 1-year-old male patient with mastocytosis. This skin disorder commonly occurs in children and infants. It causes itchy brown skin patches due to abnormal collections of mast cells - a type of white blood cell that are part of the body's immune system. Treatment is with oral antihistamine tablets or topical steroid cream.
