In 1895 he obtained apatent on a feed water heater and purifier,which although just put on the market,promises to be one of the most successfuldevices of its kind. Numerous sales havealready been made and Mr. Sotter aversthat the aparatus has exceeded his mostsanguine expectations. For a number of years Mr. Sotter hasidentified himself with such projects aswere calculated to further the best interestsof Pottstown. He has erected five sub-stantial and commodious dwellings, and isone of the originators and a director in anumber of enterprises. Among which arethe Pottstown Light Heat and Power com-pany ; the Pottstown Street Passenger Rail-way company; the Bramcote Land com-pany, of Pottstown ; and the Columbian. In 1879 Mr. Sotter was married to EmmaKirmse, a daughter of August Kirmse, awell known shoe merchant of the city ofReading. In his religious faith Mr. Sotteris a consistent Lutheran and holds mem-bership in Emanuel Lutheran church ofPottstown. ELLWOOD ROBERTS, born at Wil-mington, Delaware, first month, 1846,twenty second day, is descended from WelshFriends. His ancestor, Edward Roberts,who married in 1714, Mary Bolton, (bornin Cheltenham, eleventh month, fourth day,1687) was one of the early settlers in Rich-land, Bucks county, now Ouakertown. In1716, he left Byberry, Philadelphia, onhorseback with his wife and little daughter
