Traffic accident head injuries. Coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) scans of a 35-year-old patient with multiple head traumas from a road traffic accident; including multiple fractures to the skull and facial bones. This patient is clinically brain dead and on life support. Brain death is the irreversible end of all brain activity (including involuntary activity necessary to sustain life) due to total necrosis (death) of the cerebral neurons following loss of brain oxygenation.
