Y., in the year 1788, and chosemilling as the pursuit which he wished to make hislife work. He followed the business for sometwenty years, but though naturally a strong man,it completely wrecked his constitution and he wasforced to abandon it. He was twice married andby his first union nine children, sons and threedaughters, were born. His first wife passed to herfinal rest in New York in 1823, after which hemarried a widow with a family of chil
