During his collegecourse he gained much experience ofmission and social work in the StudentsSettlement, founded by the late ProfessorHenry Drummond. On leaving the Univer-sity he became assistant to Rev. Dr. Paton,of St. Michaels, Dumfries, where helaboured for a year and a half until hisappointment as assistant in St. GeorgesChurch, Glasgow. His particular chargewas that of St. Michaels Mission Churchin Braid Street, and his work in thatconnection attracted such attention that. Rev. J. Marshall Pryde, be was summoned to give an account of itbefore the General Assembly of 1905. Be-fore coming to Aberdeen, Mr. Pryde waslocum tenons for three months in theNew Rothesay Parish. Ruthrieston Chinch is now entirely freeof debt, the remaining portion on the hallshaving been cleared during Mr. Prydesministry by means of a bazaar held inMarch, 1909. In 1907 the church wa6 re-painted and decorated, and many newfurnishings and communion plate sup-plied, some of these by generous work of the congregation is vigorouslyprosecuted along various lines. TheSunday School and Bible Classes are on theincrease, the Junior and Senior WorkParties and choir are large and active RUTH HI EST ON PARISH CHURCH 55 and useful.
