JOSEPH D. ZIMMERMAN, D. Zimmerman, son of Samuel Zimmermanand Rebecca Maulfair, was born in 1843, in WestHanover township, Dauphin Co., Pa. His grand-father, Godfried Zimmerman, was of German descent, Handshue), Amos, Leah (Mrs. Keifer), John H., Jo-seph D., Rebecca, Daniel, and Elizabeth. Joseph received his early education in the coun-try schools of the township, and later at the PalmyraAcademy. He subsequently engaged in teaching,which he pursued for seven successive winter terms.
