Conn. (Dec. 2, 2008) The Military Sealift Command search and rescue ship USNS Grasp (ARS 51) tows Submarine NR-1 along the Thames River past New London for the final time. The oldest nuclear powered submarine in the Navy, NR-1, is being retired after nearly 40 years of service.
