Ryan Stitzel of Fleetwood, Pa., assigned to Marine Barracks Washington gives way a bike and a smile to a boy from the District of Columbia's Ward 8 as part of the Marine's annual Toys for Tots program. Military and civilian personnel and their families, living or working at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) volunteered and helped make the Christmas holiday season more joyful for nearly 300 youth in Ward 8 at a Disadvantaged Youth Holiday Party, sponsored by the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District on Dec. 18. The JBAB volunteers helped serve food to the children; pass out gifts and help with the distribution of 80 bicycles donated to the Marine Corps Foundation's Toys for Tots program for the neediest of the children. The JBAB-based Air Force Rock Band, Max Impact, kicked the event off with energetic holiday music that quickly had children on their feet and dancing. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived at the event by police helicopter, where they were met by Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.
