Leaving the school room the following year heaccepted a position as head clerk in the general storeof F R Boyer, of Hellertown, Pa, which he followedfor several years. In the Spring of 1886 he associatedhimself with T T Beau in the merchandise businessat Riegelsville, Pa, under the firm name of Bean &Stover. January 31, 1887, their store and contentswere totally destroyed by fire. During April of thesame year Mr Stover opened a store in the basementof Mechanics Hall, where he remained until October,when he removed his store to Bean Block. He con-tinued the business for three years, when he disposedof his stock to Mr Sherrer. During the Fall of 1891he secured the store property of Mr Warner, alongthe Delaware Canal, and e
