This bill aims to establish a more uni-form practice in the inspection of meatand canned food products. In the courseof the debate on the bill, instances wereadduced to show that some such actionwas necessary. It was stated by theMinister of Agriculture that the aim ofthe bill was to prevent goods that wereunder standard for the American mar-ket from finding a market in this coun-try.
