[François Rablais native of Chinon; prayed in Cordelieu in the Couuein & Fontenau le Comte, where he made himself skilled in languages and especially in Greek. his humeyx enjonee the fine sortio of the Cooens, in he passed in the order of in the Couuenc de e laissees. Afterwards he left the religious life and went to study medicine in Montpelier where his robe is still kept. The Cardel. du Bellay chose him as his doctor, took him to Rome with him, and gave him a preceptorship at St. Mauu. He died in Paris in 1553, aged 70
