Bird Pendant , c. 900-1550. Central Colombia, Muisca style, 10th-16th century. Cast gold; overall: x 10 x cm (4 5/8 x 3 15/16 x 1 1/8 in.). This elaborate bird pendant was worn. It features delicate herringbone moldings, open-work patterns, and wing details-all part of the wax model from which the pendant was cast using the lost-wax process. The dangles were attached after casting.
