The possession of an x-ray generator and a vacuum tubeis no guarantee that the possessor is in any way competent to usethem. There has been too much unscientific work of this kind inthe past, for which the patients have usually paid very severe penal-ties. Like every other department or specialty in medicine, physi-cians should be compelled to qualify before being allowed to makeuse of the x-ray for either diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. 272 PRACTICAL ELECTRO-THERAPEUTICS AND X-RAY THERAPY.
