Mr. Latham mentions a fpecimen which was (hot near Sandwichin Kent; but it is chiefly found in the northern parts of Great-Bri-tain ; it is obferved to breed on Loch Mari^ in the county of Rofs,and in the IJIe of Hay *. The neft is made of withered grafs, and is lined with the down ofthe birds breaft; it lays from eight to thirteen egg?, like thofe of awild duck, but fmaller and whiter; the young are of a dirty brownlike goflings f.
