Eugenics lecture. Norwegian eugenicist Jon Alfred Mjoen (1860-1939) lecturing on anatomy and Mendelian inheritance, which he is illustrating using differently coloured stuffed rabbits. Mjoen was President of the Norwegian Consultative Eugenics Commission, helping to found the International Federation of Eugenics Organizations (IFEO) in 1912. Mjoen, whose ideas were more popular abroad and in the USA than in his home country, advocated theories of Nordic superiority. Eugenics is the controversial practice of selectively improving the genetics of human populations. This photograph is part of the collections of the American Eugenics Society.
