Boats of this tvpe are used chiefly in the lobster fishery of Long- Island Sound, particularly at Noank and New London, Conn., and vicinity. They appear to have originated at Noank, where they are in special favor. The well is for the purpose of keeping lobsters alive. This is a wooden, carvel-built centerboard sloop; partly' decked forward and aft with washboards inclosing an elliptical-shaped open space. She has a broad beam; sharp bow; rising floor; flaring side; fine run, with skag, wide V-shaped raking stern. Open.
