A Northern Italian bascinet, circa 1320 One-piece iron pointed skull. The edge with a continuous row of fine piercings for attachment of the lining. Cleaned and preserved water find with very good materials and minor suplements. Rare early knight helmet type, which in the first half of the 14th century, was also worn without a chain mail aventail. Cf. a similar helmet in Howard M.
