By all means the best strain of Chard to be had. The stalks are nearly as thick and broadas rhubarb, and from 10 to 12 inches long below the leaf. The plant is from 2 to 2Yi feethigh. The leaves are heavily crumpled or savoyed, and are very crisp and tender. Sownoutdoors the usable size is reached in nine to ten weeks, but the leaves may be cut earlier thanthis.
